About the Event

Moms Against Racism presents... Healing through Art: Creative exploration of parenting, identity, and your anti-racism journey.

There is a lot of talk about self-care, and community care, and we all know we should be doing it, but how many of us actually are? There are a lot of reasons we give for putting off investing in ourselves like time, money, kids, too hard to do it alone…

Well, we want to help you overcome each one of those obstacles because healing is one of MAR’s core values:

“We recognize oppressive systems cause harm for everyone. We know that hurt people, hurt people. We each must take responsibility for our own healing to create space for our collective healing to occur.”

In collaboration with Graduate Art Therapy Student Facilitator, Tina Tam, MAR is offering a 9-week art as therapy virtual group offering. Details:

  • Open to all MAR members
  • No art experience is necessary
  • By donation or Be our Guest
  • Nine (9) Friday mornings from July 5th to August 30th
  • Virtually through Zoom, 10:00am to 11:30am PST
  • A six (6) session minimum commitment (out of the 9 sessions) is required
  • Must be able to attend first session on July 5th
  • A sketchbook will be provided to each participant
  • Use whatever materials you have at home
  • Limited space available

Each week we will explore a new theme “Inspirational self”, “Self-identity”, “Caregiver worries”, and “Self-compassion”. Together we will take steps towards our collective healing and courageous, anti-racism action.

So what are you waiting for? We are offering a condensed, free,  self-care and community healing opportunity that you can do from the comfort of your home, with your kids close by if needed.

Will you join us?
