About the Event

Welcome to MAR Talks: Trauma Informed Communities with Monica Bharata!

MAR is honoured to have Monica Bharata join us for a discussion on trauma informed communities and the ways trauma shows up in our anti-racism work.

Anti-racism work can be frought with shame, guilt, anger and discomfort. Our own personal trauma often takes the forefront in the way we work through and view the topic of anti-racism. For white folks, there is often a lot of guilt and feelings of shame that prevent people from deep diving into meaningful action. While for racialized folks, there is an everyday lived pain and "walking on egg shells" that stops us from speaking our full truths.

We want to move the conversation forward by taking a look at how trauma shapes our advocacy and the greater work we do within anti-racism. Explore with us as we look at how to overcome barriers to connection with eachother, ourselves and our work of bettering the world around us.

You can learn more about Monica here: Monica Bhatara-Counselling and Consulting | Restorative experiences. One connection at a time.

Join us October 19th at 10am PST for this important and timely conversation.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
