MAR Jr. Reviewers

MAR Jr. Reviewers

A youth-driven initiative elevating diverse stories and empowering young voices.

The MAR Jr. Reviewer program empowers young readers to become changemakers through books.

In this program, kids and youth read and review identity-affirming stories from our Diverse Book Baskets, sharing their thoughts on representation, belonging, and what each story means to them. Their voices help guide future book selections, amplify diverse perspectives, and inspire others to read with curiosity and courage.

Who it’s for

Youth of all backgrounds across Canada with an interest in reading, reviewing, and social justice.
Primarily for Youth ages 8 to 18, but younger and older reviewers are welcome
MAR member families and the broader community.
Classrooms and School library programs interested in hosting a group review.

“Reviewing these books has helped me notice how stories shape how kids see the world—and how important it is to have different voices.”
