About the Event

For this edition of MAR Talks we sit down with author NoNieqa Ramos to talk teen mental health and writing stories that reflect real teen experiences.

NoNieqa Ramos wrote THE DISTURBED GIRL’S DICTIONARY, a 2019 YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults Selection and a 2019 In the Margins Top Ten pick. Hip Latina included her sophomore book THE TRUTH IS in the “10 of the Best Latinx Young Adult Books of 2019.” Remezcla included TTI in the “15 Best Books by Latino and Latin American Authors of 2019.”

MAR included The Truth is in our January booklist "25 Books to Decolonize Your Library" as a book for young adults (but I loved it too as an older adult).

Versify JUST published her beautiful debut picture book YOUR MAMA, which received a School Library Journal starred review. Her second picture book HAIR STORY releases from Lerner September 6th, 2022.

NoNieqa is a proud member of Las Musas, The Soaring 20s, and PB Debut Troupe 21 collectives.

Join us here for what will for sure be an interesting hour looking at teen mental health through young adult fiction (and other topics).

Event will be livestreamed.
